Paris on a budget

Paris, a capital City, can obviously be expensive. Having visited a fair few times, I have come to find many ways of doing things on the cheaper side… or free! There are lots of beautiful things to do in stunning Paris which won’t break the bank!
Food/drink.
Food and drink can be quite expensive in Paris. There is obviously a scale of cheaper to more expensive restaurants, and eating away from the main tourist attractions is going to be cheaper.. and better quality!
I have found though, you can eat breakfast and lunch for a fairly low price by keeping away from the restaurants and going to a boulangerie or supermarche. Grab a croissant/coffee, baguette and some brie and head to a local park (there’s plenty) and watch the world go by for a fraction of the price!
Also, restaurants will charge around 6€ for a bottle of water.. but if you go to a supermarket, you can get it for as little as 0.30€ – Bargain!
Activities.
There are lots of lovely things to do in Paris that don’t cost a lot, however, they soon build up if you’re doing a few. I believe museums in Paris are free on the first Sunday of each month, which is great for some culture and watching the pennies!
Here are a list of things I like to do in Paris that are free;
- Walking from the trocadéro to the Eiffel Tower
- Sacré – Coeur
- Palais Royal
- Pére Lachaise
- Jardin Luxembourg
- Jardin des Tuileries
- Galleries Lafayette rooftop
- Place Dauphine (in the summer people play boule)
- Walking along the Seine (in the summer people play music and eat/drink along the banks)
- Montmartre street artists
- Canal Saint Martin
- Walking along Ave. Montaigne
Getting around.
Walk. It’s free (obviously) and also a great way to see things at the same time. Paris is big, but you can cover quite a lot of ground by walking around.
