4 reasons why I love destination weddings

I love travelling and experiencing new places

I honestly feel so happy when I have a trip coming up in my diary. I think it’s so exciting to step off a plane in a new place (or a beautiful one I’ve visited before) and know you’re going to be off exploring and taking photographs. So for this reason, destination wedding photography really excites me! I love the fact that I haven’t been to the venue or area before and I get to explore a new place… as my job! (How did that happen!?)

Weather (most of the time!)

There’s an exception to every rule, but most of the time, if you pick a hot country to get married in.. you’re going to have nice weather! You’re also going to get beautiful sunsets and golden hour. As I live in the UK, there is not real telling what the weather is going to do. You can get rain in August and sunshine in November.. but by going abroad, you’re probably guaranteed a nice day!

Excuse to do something different

A destination wedding is an excuse to break away from wedding traditions. You can think outside the box (as you can at home, I know I know) and do something a little different. Experiencing a new culture and taking on some of their traditions is a great way to add a unique twist to your wedding day.

Spending longer with the wedding party

I always think destination weddings are lovely as (most of the time) the wedding party is quite small. The pressure is off having to spend time going round everyone because there’s less people and.. they’re probably been out for your wedding for a few days before the actually day.

Would you get married abroad? Did you get married abroad? What are your pro’s and con’s to a destination wedding?
