Like Alanis says in her song Ironic (that’s not ironic but that’s a completely different blog altogether) “It’s like rain on your wedding day”.. meaning of all the days it could rain, it picks your wedding day.
I have heard conflicting theories on a rainy wedding day.. some say it’s good luck, some don’t. But either way, when you wake up on the morning of your wedding and it looks like a scene from Noah.. you’re not going to take it as good luck.
My advice is to remember these two things;
It’s your WEDDING DAY!! You’re marrying the love of your life, so forget the weather and smile.
and.. We live in the UK.
Even in July and August, sunshine in the UK isn’t guaranteed :( That’s why we have to plan for the r-word to rear it’s ugly head.
Some of my tips include;
Fancy umbrellas. Heart shapes, lace, transparent, golf.. These all help when you still want to use a venues fabulous grounds. (Oh and wellies!)
Use trees for shelter (unless there’s lightening).
Stand under some shelter and the photographer can stand outside.
If you’re getting married in a summer month, chances are if rain turns up it’s only in spells. So be prepared to switch around a few things once the rain has gone so you can go outside.
If you’re getting married in a winter month, pick a venue with a great interior and lot’s of light. This way, if it’s cold and rainy, you can use inside!
Remember, if it rains its part of your day. The weather is the only thing you can’t change. Smile, enjoy and take it as a good luck sign.
