My new camera and a full frame comparison

September 6, 2012

You may or may not have read that I have invested in a new camera! (I may have mentioned it once or twice on social networking) Anyhow, after it had finally got delivered… (that’s a different story…I’m talking to you ‘Yodel’) I opened it.. tried to shoot a few photographs and felt like I wanted to grab my old camera and hug it. My old camera.. I say old, I mean trusty.. is like my best friend (sad right?!) I know how to make it do what I want it to do. This new camera frightened me.

After about 10 minutes, I figured out how to make it act like my old trusty camera.. and it began to do what I wanted it to do! hurrah!

It’s full frame.. which to camera geeks is like mega cool. I promised some Facebook people that I would put some examples on so here goes! I kept the settings the same on both cameras:      f1.4    1/800     iso 250 both shot with a 50mm lens.

The left photograph was shot with the d800 and the right photograph with a D90. I sat in exactly the same place. Here you can see the difference that a full frame camera gives. Love. Oh.. and do you like my new shoes?

Same for these two photographs…

And again.

I’m sorry the subjects are amazing boring.. this was just a quick comparison so everyone can see the differences. I look forward to shooting a lot with my new camera over the next few weeks, before my next Wedding and sharing some more interesting images!

I shall be posting a ‘what’s in my bag?’ over the next few days. So keep an eye out!

Have a great evening. It’s my Grandad’s Birthday so i’m off to eat cake..x

Hope your new camera is still giving you enjoyment.
And thank you for following.

Hey,

Thank you for your kind comment. I love my D90, I still think its a fabulous camera.
I’m glad i’ve been at some help. I’m trying to post more blogs about other things that just photographs so glad it’s been helpful :)

Congrats on the new D800! I love that you posted a comparison here, it’s very helpful! I’ve been on the fence about moving from my D90 to the D800, and still debating as I hear a D600 is soon to be released for us “cheapo photographers” lol. I love all of your work I see on FB and will continue to follow you!

Great Work!
